Immediately prior to surgery you will be given
tranquilizer to calm you from any element of anxiety. In addition, a dose
of antibiotics will also be given. You will be explained the procedure and
any questions answered. You will be asked to fill some paperwork. All this
may take about 30-45 minutes. You will be then taken to the the operating
room. The scrotum is then shaved, prepped and draped in sterile fashion.
Local anesthesia is administered. It feels like a mosquito-bite. The
surgery thereafter is painless. It takes about 3 to 3 1/2 hour to complete
the procedure. No drains are placed. During surgery you may be able to
read a book, listen to music, watch a DVD (please bring your favorite DVD)
or take a nap. After surgery, a dressing is applied and you are discharged
from the facility about 15 minutes after surgery.
